Miss Universe Bahamas Pageant

So I know I am super late! Please forgive me... it's been a crazy few months.

This past September I was a contestant (Miss Long Island) in the Miss Universe Bahamas 2013 Pageant. It was such a life-changing experience; I made life long friendships which I am so grateful for. The highlight of the entire experience was the enrichment program that was provided from the Miss Bahamas Organization.

Dr. Myles Munroe gave an inspiring address on finding our purpose in life and encouraged us to follow our passions. I learned how truly important it is to always remain who God made me and to share my passion with others. This may have been my favorite part of the entire experience because it really touched my heart.

Ms. Michelle Malcolm taught us the importance of having a mission statement to live by. Let me tell you it's tricky business. I'm still trying to shorten my own to the appropriate length, it's tough when you want to save the world! Beverley Saunders (what an amazing woman!) came and made us all understand how important inner-beauty is and encouraged us all to make the most out of the experience, there can only be one winner.

Jerome Sawyer - Chief Cook & Bottle Washer his unofficial title - spoke to us on giving a good interview. I think I laughed during his entire address, I love his sense of humor. He really knows how to stay engaging while getting his point across.

Other speakers included Lisa McCartney, Bianca Carter, Michelle Collie and a few others. I am grateful for the experience but I am also ready to move on with my life and apply all of the knowledge that I have gained!

 - I placed 2nd Runner-Up and received multiple awards including: Miss Congeniality, The Spirit Award and The People's Choice Award.

I just wanted to share some photos from my pageant journey with everyone. I hope you enjoy!

What I'm Reading Now - "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's COO (Chief of Operations) has a new book entitled "Lean In - Women, Work and the Will to Lead." Sandberg is very influential in what goes on in the web industry today. Her book encourages women to take positions of leadership. She believes that a huge part of why women are afraid to take on demanding roles in the work force is because of issues we have internally.

In her intro she says "...women are hindered by barriers that exist within ourselves. We hold ourselves back in ways both big and small, by lacking self-confidence, by not raising our hands, and by pulling back when we should be leaning in."

I have only just starting my reading today but so far I can tell it is an interesting read, one that is uplifting and motivating. Join me as I read, you can purchase her Ebook here http://www.amazon.com/Lean-In-Women-Work-Will/dp/0385349947/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368484220&sr=8-1&keywords=lean+in

Set Sail with Seahorse Sailing Adventures!

What a relaxing and tranquil experience setting sail on a private boat for dinner. I would recommend this dinner cruise to any couple who are searching for a quiet dinner away from the busy streets of Nassau or even a group of friends that want to get whisked away for a few hours together for a few drinks with dinner.

I was greeted by friendly staff, delighted to know I was a local. Upon boarding the boat, a photographer snapped a quick photo of me and my guest. We set sail promptly at 6, cruised the Nassau Harbor, around Paradise Island and back. Dinner was served after about 30 minutes into the cruise. What a tasty Bahamian menu, Peas and Rice, BBQ ribs, baked chicken, pasta and for dessert rich chocolate cake.

I enjoyed myself so much the two hours went by so fast. When we got back to the dock a little after 8 pm, there was a nice gentleman waiting with a printout of my picture he had taken when we were boarding. For a small fee I was able to get a snapshot of my awesome experience.

Check them out guys! You can call their booking office at (242) 322-4828 or visit their website www.seahorsesailingadventures.com their friendly staff will be more than happy to help you plan your dinner cruise at sunset!
